Postdoctoral Fellows:
We may have opportunities for a postdoctoral fellow to use computational and wet-lab approaches to study how genomic and transcriptomic heterogeneity interplays with microbial interactions in the oral cavity or female genital tract. Postdocs are also encouraged to submit applications for independent funding to pursue other projects. To apply, please email Gina with (1) a short cover letter that details your research interests and why you are applying to the Lewin lab in particular; (2) a CV; and (3) the names and contact information for three professional references. For more information, reach out to Gina directly.
Graduate Students:
The Lewin Lab can train PhD students through the Case Western Biomedical Sciences Training Program or the Biology PhD Program and MS students through the Case Western Program in Molecular and Cellular Pathology. Please reach out if you are interested in applying to the lab through the Biology PhD program or if you are a current CWRU graduate student interested in learning more about the lab.
Undergraduate Students:
We do not currently have any opportunities for undergraduate students in our lab. If you would like to be considered for future openings, please email Gina with your resume or CV, and a description of why you are interested in this lab. To be successful in the lab, undergrads are asked to work 10-12 hours per week, and you will need to work in at least 2 hour blocks (ideally 3+ hours/block). Your hours must be within M-F 9-6 for safety and to allow for adequate mentorship.
Research Assistants (Technician):
We currently do not have any open positions for research assistants (staff scientists/technicians), but we are always looking for engaged and thoughtful scientists. If you are interested in a research assistant position in our lab, please reach out to Gina directly.
Our Location:
The Lewin Lab is housed in the Center for Global Health and Diseases and the Department of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University and affiliated with the Case Western-Veterans Affairs Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Epidemiology in Cleveland, Ohio. This environment offers a dynamic and collaborative research community to study the human microbiota and its role in disease. In addition, Cleveland is a vibrant and affordable city with a small town feel and big city amenities including a beautiful waterfront, world-class arts and music, a top culinary scene, extensive parks (including Cuyahoga National Park), and multiple professional sports teams.
The Lewin lab is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable research environment. All candidates should share these core values, and candidates with diverse backgrounds and identities are strongly encouraged to apply for open positions.
